Refresh Plugins menu selection breaks editor VI

Selecting the Refresh Plugins option from the Tools menu in the editor results in the editor showing broken run arrow, followed shortly after by LabVIEW crashing.

During the refresh process, this error dialog appears:

After clearing that error dialog, the editor VI is broken, but no errors are shown in error dialog (I assume because we're running in a system context because it was launched from tools menu).

This happens in LV 2015 with the software set on tools network (DCAF 1.2):

It may occur in other configurations as well, but these are not currently tested.
