Norway did the transition to EVs the right way with carrots and sticks. High taxes on polluting vehicles and none or low taxes on electric vehicles. Due to the nature of sodium-ion batteries, I see them being highly successful in cold countries like Norway. Looking forward to see BYD put sodium-ion batteries in its electric cars and ship them to Norway. In Europe we need a consortium of European companies like Airbus to build sodium-ion batteries locally and we need them as early as tomorrow. Moreover, if governments are really interested in fighting climate change and air pollution, they should push for open-source battery technologies made available to everyone free of charge. Its ROI would be huge, patents greatly slow down the democratization/massification of technologies. |

For the market to reach the +99% market share there needs to be more BEV options for all the sectors: city, family, leisure, local logistics and medium/long range utility vehicles. Do you agree? |
