This release is named Cephalotus follicularis, also known as Albany pitcher plant. The insectivorous leaves are small and have the appearance of moccasins, forming the 'pitcher' of the common name. The release is named after Ajuga reptans, also known as Bugle. Bugle has a long history of use as a wound herb and, although little used today, it is still considered very useful in arresting haemorrhages and is also used in the treatment of coughs and spitting of blood in incipient consumption. The young shoots are edible and can be eaten raw.

Summary

This release is named after Alocasia macrorrhizos, also known as Giant Elephant Ear. The corm needs to be thoroughly cooked before being eaten in order to destroy the calcium oxalate crystals. The basal part of the stem, which can be up to 1 meter tall and 20cm in diameter, is peeled and used as a cooked vegetable. A very easily digested starch can be obtained from the stem.
