Dear @KonradIT and @debpedrano

I cannot locate releases for this project on any of the declared release locations; GitHub, F-Droid nor Google Play.

Can you please advise when this message has been received, and if/whether releases will be provided.

It's dormant. Never got a chance to actually commit to develop it.

@KonradIT it is a pity that the project has been stopped. I see that you have been working on other similar projects with GoPro. I read that you left it because it required a lot of maintenance. I imagine you mean having to update with new cameras. I am very interested in a project of this type to be able to apply it to another type of app. My knowledge is not very extensive because I have recently started programming, but I have a lot of time to dedicate to it. I do not know if you know of any similar project or if you would be interested that between the two of us we resume this project. If you explain to me how to get the APIs of the cameras through smelling their original applications and adding them to the project, I could dedicate about 4 hours a day on average without problems and be able to benefit both of us.

I can extract an apk and how to get the code (or so I think, I do it online through some websites) I should know what to extract and where to put it. I would go working and you would only have to check that everything was OK. I believe that it is beneficial for you for me and for everyone. You fancy? In a week I could get to work on it. I think that if I dedicate 4 hours a day 5 days a week we could do something very good.

So here's the thing:

My idea was to create the equivalent of gadgetbridge for connected lifestyle cameras (namely GoPro, Insta360, DJI, Sony, Garmin). After I could not maintain CamControl past the Hero3+ generation due to API changes and.... school - this was born. Right now what's needed is:

  • Implement an API wrapper written in Kotlin around the GoPro WiFi API: http://github.com/konradit/goprowifihack
  • Implement an API wrapper written in Kotlin around the GoPro Bluetooth API: http://github.com/konradit/gopro-ble-py
  • Have the UI recognize which camera is currently connected to the phone via WiFi or BT
  • Populate a list of modes based on API wrapper
  • Populate a list of settings to change based on API wrapper
  • Populate a media view based on API wrapper

The concept of the app isn't very complicated and I am not trying to compete against the official GoPro App anymore given the app fulfills my needs. But an open source vendor agnostic privacy respecting camera controller could definitively find its niche among action camera users.

I don't want to compete with the official GoPro app either, my idea is to add a specific function for a type of activity so that the user can add data about their activity to the video. The idea is that the app receives the video via Wi-Fi in real time and adds the data superimposed on the video and saves it on the mobile. I think the most complicated thing for me at the moment is to make the App work for the maximum number of camera brands and not just GoPro or a specific one. I believe that this project that you opened had the objective of connecting with the largest number of cameras including the ChinaPro (which I have understood is the most difficult)

I'm not interested in controlling DVRs and security cameras.
