Square people image looks odd in people page and icon

What happened?

Square profile images look squashed on the people page. They're also very small and aligned to the left when displayed as icons.

What did you expect?

Display square profile images at their normal proportions on the people page. Make sure they're a reasonable size and centered when shown as icons.

I think either I can implement a crop functionality or use attention cropping when generating the cover thumbnail.

Edit: I took a look at the code and found that uploads via the UI don't get the same image pipeline that cover images do, aka attention cropping and cover size settings.
