Quite explicit title. Right now we suppose L>=0.
Not an issue for the spherical case but it is for razor-thin discs with counter-rotating stars.

Is this as straightforward as preserving the sign of L based on input by users in a distribution function? Most of the operations are on the absolute value of L in practice.
