Better usage information from real world deployments would inform the priorities of the Cedarling development team. For this reason, we should create a feature to send back telemetry data to a static URL. This telemetry data must not include any PII (e.g. ip address)--just usage information about functional performance data needed for optimization and usability improvements. It must be very small in size.

We should add an additional bootstrap property to enable developers to opt out of telemetry.

  • CEDARLING_LOG_SEND_TELEMETRY_TO_IMPROVE_PROJECT : Default is enabled. Whether to send back non PII usage information to the Janssen Project, used by the developers to improve the Cedarling.

I think it would be interesting if the Cedarling sent values for uptime, CEDARLING_WORKLOAD_AUTHZ , CEDARLING_WORKLOAD_AUTHZ , and CEDARLING_LOCK
