Test on either muonfe or rikenfe, this will need us to prove we can read from multiple instrument DAEs and do multiple concurrent independent fits etc.

Acceptance criteria

  • Make sure we have tickets for any requirements needed by that test, which we haven't yet covered
  • Make sure the above tickets get proposed in good time before the relevant test
  • Arrange the testing time
    • JL has agreed to a generic "test at some point in January with dark counts" followed by a short test at some point during startup at an as-yet unspecified time.
  • Go to the beamline and do the full test with beam during startup
  • Write up any relevant issues/feedback in further tickets

From JL:

For muons – it doesn’t make sense to try out SCANS on RIKENFE until ARGUS is properly set up and running IBEX, and the IBEX migration itself ought to take priority. But for a quick 2 instrument test we could try running on MUONFE and take data on EMU and MUSR (all on IBEX now), scan a common beamline magnet and record the flux or perhaps process the spectra to get asymmetry. We’d need to agree a suitable time in start-up / calibration.

For muons I think we should have a day in the January shutdown to test that we can start/stop dark count runs across several instruments and get data back, even if it’s mostly zeros. Then we’re ready to go if there’s time in start up. The actual measurements with beam shouldn’t need more than a few hours to demonstrate it’s working. It’s a bit early to choose a time now.
