Hello everyone,

I have a question about the ‘new’ TG part 2 on IACS, which is also published here in the technical-guildlines repository. In Germany, there is a group working on this topic in order to implement it in a harmonised way. So far, so good.

However, it is not entirely clear to me how this TG relates to the implementation of the INSPIRE data models LandUse and LandCover. Is the TG IACS part 2 an additional harmonised data model or does it replace the previous implementation in LC and LU?

I appreciate a concrete answer to this question, because until now nobody was able to do so.

Best regards
Antje

Hi everyone,

We are also interested in a final legal statement on this. @heidivanparys Can you maybe tell us who to contact on the current state/further plans here?

All the best

Johanna

Dear all,
TG on IACS Spatial Data Sharing (both parts 1 and 2) are currently under revision, with a revised unique TG expected in spring 2025.
Few revisions are expected regarding the data models currently described in Part 2, which will be the only target data models according to which LPIS and GSA datasets will have to be harmonised.
Major revisions are expected in the discovery-related aspects of the new unique TG (currently covered in Part 1), which will ensure consistency with the target data models to be used for the harmonisation.

Thanks a lot for the information on the status.

I still have a few questions regarding these issues:

  1. In order to achieve an INSPIRE-compliant implementation of IACS data, will the LPIS and GSA data models from TG2 replace the transformation to the INSPIRE Annex themes LandUse and LandCover in the future?
  2. If so, should TG2 be considered as the 35th INSPIRE Annex theme?
  3. If so, when will the legal basis (Directive 2007/2/EC, Commission Regulation (EU) No 1089/2010 etc.) be adapted so that we have a binding legal basis for this?
