I added the x265 encoder into the script.
You can test it out on the latest commit.

If you plan to use it, look inside dependencies\x265\x265_r3_5_0_103.7z after installing.
Some builds may work better on certain systems.
If you do find one that does, just swap it out with the existing executable.

Here's a example params.txt that uses x265:

 -e x265 -c mkvmerge  -a " -c:a copy " -v " -p fast"

But it is no big deal, I just use a different encoder for X265 ...

I tested it myself, under a virtual machine to double check that it does work.

Nothing was changed, other than params.txt

The encoder that the script uses, is from this repo: https://github.com/jpsdr/x265/
and the executable is located in Winthread\Multilib\Release\x265_x64.exe

Sorry for the inconvenience. For another project, I adjusted the vapoursynth to enable lsmash, and this seemed to brake some things. I completely re-downloaded the Av1an - folder and just kept most of the settings "stock" and only adjusted the params.txt.

Now it works fine with my parameters:

-e x265 -c mkvmerge -f "-vf crop=1440:1080:240:0" -a " -c:a libopus -b:a 128k -ac 2 " -v " -p slow --bitrate 2000 --output-depth 10 --frame-threads 4 --level-idc 0 --high-tier --ref 4 --min-keyint 23 --rc-lookahead 25 --rect --rdoq-level 2 --limit-modes --me 3 --subme 3 --deblock 0:0 --no-sao --rd 4 --no-early-skip --no-b-intra --psy-rdoq 1.0 --aq-mode 3 --sar 1 --range full --min-luma 0 --max-luma 1023 --log2-max-poc-lsb 8 --no-idr-recovery-sei --lookahead-slices 4 --scenecut-bias 0.05 "

I'm glad it works now for you.

I had the plugin "lsmash" disabled in the install script because it was broken on VapourSynth64 R62.

VapourSynth64 R63 came out last week, and should have fixed it. I re-enabled the "lsmash" in the install script and it should work now on the latest commit. I only tested one file with this params.txt:

 -e x265 -c mkvmerge --chunk-method lsmash -v " -p fast "

lsmash can still throw errors, according to Av1an's docs.
If you want to enable lsmash, just re-run install.bat on a fresh clone.
