When DLSS FrameGen is turned on, the game freezes continuously. The Freezes occur mostly after the second or third restart of the game within about 30 seconds and after that permanently. As soon as the game creates the vkd3d-proton.cache / vkd3d-proton.cache.write file(s), the mentioned freezes with FrameGen enabled will occur and the game becomes unplayable.
When the ENV (Lutris) / the Launch-Argument (Steam) VKD3D_CONFIG=pipeline_library_app_cache or VKD3D_SHADER_CACHE_PATH=0 is set, the freezes do not occur and the game becomes playable even with FrameGen enabled. But then you have no Shader Caching which leads to expected and annoying game stuttering (even with FrameGen turned off) doesn't make this a good solution.
There must be an issue with vkd3d-Shader-Caching in conjunction with DLSS Frame Generation enabled.
There are no problems with the game when DLSS FrameGen is turned off in the settings.
Software information
Star Wars Outlaws: Ultra-Preset, DLSS on - quality, RayReconstruction on, Nvidia RTX Direct Lighting off...and DLSS FrameGen on.
