In addition to the 43 languages covered in this repo, Android also supports the following additional languages:

  • Assamese (India)
  • Bodo (India)
  • Bosnian (Bosnia & Herzegovina)
  • Dogri (India)
  • Gujarati (India)
  • Icelandic (Iceland)
  • Javanese (Indonesia)
  • Kashmiri (India)
  • Khmer (Cambodia)
  • Konkani (India)
  • Latvian (Latvia)
  • Maithili (India)
  • Malayalam (India)
  • Manipuri (India)
  • Nepali (Nepal)
  • Odia (India)
  • Punjabi (India)
  • Sanskrit (India)
  • Sindhi (India)
  • Sinhala (Sri Lanka)
  • Sundanese (Indonesia)
  • Swahili (Kenya)
  • Urdu (Pakistan)
  • Welsh (United Kingdom)

None of these languages are currently supported by Windows or macOS/iOS/iPadOS. There might be an overlap with languages only supported in Edge, which should be prioritized above the rest. All voices available on Android are usually available on ChromeOS as well.
