Thanks Lal! This is interesting to see, and I think would put us in a much more reasonable ballpark of water demand. For instance, assuming June-August is 14 weeks, with a water demand of 1" per week for the first and last four weeks, and 1.5" per week for the middle six weeks, that would be a total water demand of 17". I'd be inclined to set crop water demand over that period to 20" as an initial test and see how our numbers compare. If we were using 30" before and an average effective rainfall of ~12", we're assuming ~18" of water put on. Now we'd be down to something like 8" of water put on, so I suspect our volume estimates would be around 8/18 = 44% of what they were. @rburghol what do you think? |
@julieshortridge I think that makes lot of sense, both the final totals, and your idea to do more need in the middle weeks. Thanks to both of you! |
Task: Develop county-level coefficients of large farm unreported irrigation withdrawals.
@laljeet @jdkleiner @rburghol
Wunr_lg = Wtotal - Wunr_sm - Wrep_irr
Wtotal = Total irrigated acres x Rainfall_Deficit
C_irr_lgc,y = Wunr_lg / Wrep_irr
C_tot_lgc,y = Wunr_lg / Wrep_tot
