Might be interesting to support reverse tunnels, for when the client has NAT-free/UPnP access, but the server doesn't - like SSH or VNC do. (Maybe you can just launch a local proxy on the client's side if they are trusted, just as a potential idea).
This gets a bit interesting when you get a swarm of people both with NATless and NATful connections, since a whole bunch of people now would decide how exactly they'd want to connect to the server and whether they'd want to become a proxy etc.
