Frikanalen's workhorse for both video playback and graphics is CasparCG.

We have a standard transmission machine hardware type. A standard TX machine has an nVidia GTX 1030 GPU which fits in our standard chassis, requiring no added power. It also has one or more Blackmagic DeckLink SDI interfaces of some variety.

Even though we already have CasparCG running in Docker, it requires a connection to the host X server, as well as a custom nVidia Docker plugin - and not least, the device nodes of the SDI card mapped in.

CasparCG uses both these cards through driver interfaces and therefore moving it into Kubernetes represents a bit of a challenge. It would simplify integrating baseband video into deployment and testing. Especially desirable is the future possibility of integrating recording of baseband video into unit and integration tests.
