As talked at the WikidataCon 2017 in Berlin, it is planned to bring together actvities on importing political data to wikidata from different countries. A common issue was to standardize the data model used, so this will be the main purpose of the Wikidata Project/Politics. There i see two main tasks: modelling a general data model for elections on an abstract level and apply the general model to the different nationalities.

Activities

  • create a general universal Data Model
  • Share Codebase, Tools, etc.
  • Make Activities visible
  • Create Guide for Beginners on how to use, import and update data
  • Import Data -> Online Code Sprint
  • expand community: add other projects and people to this

Thats great. Am looking for some support to start this in the summer. Maybe start first in austria, and then expand to the outside world. What do you think?

I am interested in this task:

create a general universal Data Model

Very likely a working group will be formed in July 2018 in Germany to standardize (German) election data:

Great. As german and austrian elections are quiet different, this could be a good starting point to create an abstraction for election data results layer by layer. maybe you can keep us update, and get in touch with us if austrian input could be interesting.
