I'm making an archive of all Linux distros

There is any issues in making forks and preserving the previous git history because for example here:

GXDE-OS/dde-control-center@ec47d2e
GXDE-OS/dde-file-manager@9145a2c
GXDE-OS/dde-kwin@b82fc82

all previous history have not been preserved

Here GXDE-OS/GXDE@4f2e5d2 have been added the debian changelog of debiandde which date back to 2015, would be nice having all that 9 years of development too

You see some very old files, they are from old LinuxDeepin. GXDE Project is not that old~

Yes, some histories are destroyed. We know that destroying commit history is confusing, but that's because we are using an Chinese git platform as major platform( For internet issue in China) : Gitee, which have limited repo size for free users. . To decrease repo size, we have to remove some history and only leave the changes made by GXDE Project.

These original repo's history can often found at LinuxDeepin/LinuxDeepin Old repos. For example:
