We need to decide on the fonts that we use for menu and other assets. The fonts usage have to be compatible with our project license and not require some additional costs (and document the source from which they were pulled).

If anyone has experience with font design and would like to create something that would also be useful.

font i tried out is called "Matiz" http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/Matiz

Looks like that was apparently found with no licence. It's worth aiming to use stuff with less ambiguity that we know we can distribute in a way that's compatible with this project's licencing.

ah bugger, sorry i was looking at a bunch and I thought they all had the same licence, i mustn't have looked at that one..

It's OK. Fontsquirrel doesn't really push licence stuff up into the forefront, so it's easy to miss :)

Ok so i've tried out another font which looks pretty nice in the UI

Google fonts are open source and the license basically says "do whatever you want" :)
Will post an updated screenshot in the UI issue so we don't get messy

Yeah, that's a nice face. Licence feels suitable too. Winnar! :D

Cool font.
Shouldn't be an issue now, but we should also consider using Unicode fonts, so we can have the option to localize the game UI to fit the same look for non-latin languages. Don't let that stop you though, we are no where near that point.

Should I add Fredoka One to the game?

Good point, @thegsm

@lightsoda Yeah, let's do it. We'll need to clear out the old fonts as well - that's a bigger task as we'll need to be mindful of any UI elements that might not be able to cope with the font face's different sizes.
