There's a problem with letting volunteers know when they should come in to avoid too many people there, and huge gaps when there's no one there.

The calendar spreadsheet is inadequate for pairing people up -- say a new volunteer who wants to go only when there's someone who can show them what to do. Can't be negotiated on a calendar as easily as it can in a live meeting.

A regular open invite meeting link (jitsi or zoom) that all volunteers could tune into for five minutes would help sort this out (especially the pairing for on-boarding, and reminding people that they will be helpful at certain times).

Meeting could be structured with an initial report of productivity, stock levels, and how many hours are being lost with machines being idle.

A good idea from 3DHub today is a specific "new volunteer" meeting for people to get up to speed. You could potentially video it for people to watch between live meetings
