I've tried doing it myself as a hobby but failed miserably because I don't know enough about drawing in the inspector. I think more than one person has atempted to expose a Dictionary and realized is not possible by default on Unity.

Oh my friend, I feel your pain. It is indeed really not trivial thing to do. There are a few solutions out there, like this one. You may want to try it out.
I just wanted to do something on my own instead of grabbing someones solution but eventually it just sunk in my enormous todo list.
Note, that I actually have a Serialized Dictionary in MyBox called MyDictionary but it was made to serialize data for editor tools and not to show it in inspector.
Will keep this issue alive just to hinge me in this direction some day, but not anytime soon
