@estone65 I added some comments (and a barbie theme) estone65/lab1/pull/1

Note when I run the above command it shows the correlations, but when I knitted it the correlations did not appear.
Which makes me think the second variable (i.e., the correlation) isn't showing up. Shouldn't run and knit produce the same results?

That's a good question. So they should if you give it explicit print options, but otherwise, the defaults provided in R studio and the defaults provided in knitr might not be the same. You'll also see this with digits etc. So you can always specify how you would like the information to appear, like I've done in this version.
