CI is failing due to a lint failure from merge #5106

It looks like the merge 9599065 into the PR branch for #5096 upset MyPy and possibly also broke keeping actual workflow outputs around when the switch from #5096 is on. But it was squashed and merged to master before the lint check actually ran on the branch, so the failure wasn't detected until it was in master.
