Absolute paths can be different and might be a problem, but line numbers seem harmless. The obvious fix is to replace absolute paths with relative ones when they appear. I think coreboot mostly uses relative ones, while vboot or some other components are build with absolute ones.
If they can be specified explicitly during build, then one could have the same results when building from a patched tarball. |

@pietrushnic late here but I'm not sure I understand the problem. All those problems are resolved under heads since it moved to using commit based reproducible docker images, and Heads buildsystem referring to Heads commit for its BOM, where commit shows versions of each components for that commit modules/* integrated. Timeless builds, yes, but with git commit appended as versioning, and reproducible for that commit. You can check Heads global Makefile and how git info is propagated in git related modules, specifically kernel and coreboot. But yes, 1970. Pin me again if/where needed. |
