The chapters referenced from CPP 529 are the suggested readings for this week. It’s background material on what makes instruments that measure latent constructs valid and reliable.

It is background reading because you need to understand the concepts but you will calculate any metrics like a reliability score (Cronbach’s alpha) on this assignment. You just need to know that when you look for an instrument for your study it has to have been a validated instrument (not just an index or scale someone created), and it has to have a reliability score above 0.7.
