[Bug][1.12.2][latest]: Game Crashes when loading chat and minetogether friends don't carry across versions

Describe the bug

When i open the chat to add my friend as a minetogether friend - the game crashes, also i have him as my friend on 1.18.2 but he doesn't show up in the friends list - so it's 2 bugs/crashes actaully

Steps to reproduce

Bug 1: Opening Chat Crashes The Game

1. open up the curseforge app (i haven't tested it on other apps like ftb or the default launcher yet) installation with minetogether
2. Wait for the game to load
3. (optional) load up a world to do this in
4. Open the chat in the esc menu or main menu.
5. Game stops responding and has basically crashed (press "close the program" to get the logs/crash report)

Bug 2: 1.18.2 Minetogether Friends Don't Carry To 1.12.2

1. Open Minecraft 1.18.2 with minetogether and wait for it to load
2. Add anyone you want as a friend
3. Close 1.18.2
4. Open Minecraft 1.12.2 with minetogether and wait for it to load (using the SAME account as 1.18.2 as friends are linked to your microsoft account)
5. Look at your friends list (assuming your friend accepted it in 1.18.2) and find it not there
6. Open the chat to add him again and the game crashes (as explained above)

Expected behaviour

1. open up the curseforge app (i haven't tested it on other apps like ftb or the default launcher yet) and install minetogether
2. Wait for the game to load

4. Open the chat in the esc menu or main menu.
5. Game DOESN'T stop responding and has basically NOT crashed
