Cadaver and konqueror have been used for testing under linux, and both work well with alaya.
A windows webdav client that seems to work well with alaya is http://rei.to/carotdav_en.html

The default webdav clients for MacOSX and Windows suffer from a wide range of issues. 

Mac 'Finder' will only treat a webdav store as read-only unless locking (webdav level 2) is available (which alaya doesn't support... yet). 

Windows 'netfolders' has issues surrounding authentication. It will only support digest authentication in  http, and although basic authentication is supported in https, it seems to be broken in some versions of windows.

Safari seems to have some problems with the 'Logout' type of VPath, where it won't logout sent to the 'logout' URL. Using it in 'private browsing mode' solves this.

Safari also has issues with websockets. It won't send authentication details for a websocket after logging in with standard HTTP. The solution to this is to include 'cookie' in the list of authentication types.

Safari is also broken when it comes to client certificates. Instead of treating a certificate request from the server as optional, and falling back to username/password, Safari will require a certificate if the server asks for one.
