Jupyter Notebook problems

I'm running a virtual environment in python 3.10.4 within this virtual environment i have a Jupyter Notebook in my VSCode instance i have the Codiumate extension, however i havent copied the repo or anything like that (is that necesarry for it to work or just the extension is enough?). Within the jupyter notebook I try to select code within cells and have Codium explain them but it doesnt recognize the code selected. There is no problem with the mention of context files, it even tracks the line numbers within each cell but is not able to receive the code snippet. Can i use codium for Datascience within Jupyter Notebooks in vsCode? Thank you.
