"Walking and cycling charity, Sustrans, worked with funders, the Greater London Authority, the local community, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, Trees for Cities and other partners to transform a disused strip of land into a beautiful 14 acre linear park.",

"The idea for the greenway came from local residents who wanted to improve access to this underused greenspace. It was overgrown and uncared for. The majority of residents felt it was unsafe to use. Thirty-four percent of the borough’s surface has greenspace coverage, but within Thames Ward where Ripple Greenway is located, half the residents did not have good access to quality greenspace."

They were critical to the success of the design and delivery of a high-quality greenspace where people would feel comfortable to cycle, walk, use a pushchair or travel by wheelchair without the need for a car."
