I'm a big fan of the parcel viewer and used it while choosing a first home to renovate as part of my sustainable housing practice, and I also organize a learn-to-code meetup called Detroit Code With Friends. Our members are interested in practicing their coding skills in a beginner-friendly environment, and also helping to serve their communities. I volunteered as a tech lead at a similar event called Code For Good in Western Michigan (Grand Rapids), and I'd love to have a small hackathon-for-good event here. I've also talked to some youth centers like Phoenix Project that have expressed an interest in mentoring programs for young people in the D gaining experience for a software career.
Would you be interested in co-organizing a small, one-day event with us? We could help work on any outstanding issues with parcel-viewer or other civic code projects, or match up programming teams with churches, neighborhood associations, and non-profits, especially those related to affordable housing. Let us know if that sounds like an interesting conversation.
Best, Paul

Great to hear, I’ve been exploring some of the public datasets. Perhaps we can have a zoom call screenshare or meetup to discuss what’s available, and what kind of workshops people might want to learn how to hack on it.Sent from my iPhoneOn Feb 11, 2023, at 6:33 PM, Saamer Mansoor ***@***.***> wrote:
