In a taxon/map search, it would be ideal to be able to choose:
Accept only true synonyms (not necessarily names that happen to have the same species binomial; some of those may no longer be associated with the taxon in question. E.g., a search for Cryptantha intermedia currently retrieves Cryptantha intermedia var. dumetorum, which is not an accepted synonym; it just has the same species binomial.
Allow exact matches of a taxon with widcards. E.g., in the above, a search for Cryptantha intermedia as an exact match would only retrieve those records with that binomial, not any infraspecific names or synonyms.
Allow for any taxon starting with the name, which is the current situtation. This might pull up non-synonyms, older names no longer accepted as belonging to the taxon, but might be a useful feature.
