Dear users of Fansly Downloader,
I wanted to reach out to you today regarding an issue we've been encountering with false positive detections on compiled versions of our code.
It has come to my attention that various antivirus software providers are flagging files of this open source project as potentially malicious. I want to assure you that these detections are not indicative of any actual security threats present in the codebase. The reason behind these false positives is that executable releases of Fansly Downloader are not digitally signature signed, which often leads to them being mistakenly identified as suspicious.
Obtaining a digital certificate for code signing incurs significant yearly costs, which can be a big burden for an non-profit open-source project like ours. However, I believe there is a way we can tackle this issue together and eliminate these false positives.
I kindly request your assistance in helping me get rid of these detections. If you encounter any antivirus software flagging Fansly Downloader files as malicious, I encourage you to take the following steps:
By directly reporting these false positives to your antivirus provider, you can help raise awareness about the issue and prompt them to take corrective actions. Your contributions in this matter are immensely valuable and will greatly benefit our open-source community.
I appreciate your understanding and support in tackling this challenge. Together, we can ensure that our code is recognized for its true value and security.
Thank you for being a part of our community
Best regards,
@Avnsx, Author of Fansly-Downloader
