I find that the Line Breaks from Simplenote notes are preserved when pasting into Apple Mail or Apple Notes

but not when pasting into the GMail App in iPhone from Simplenote

I also submitted this to Google and pushed them a bit on it. The classic response is it is Simplenotes job to fix this. I am posting this here for the developers.

Thank you for your response.

While I can't definitively pinpoint the exact technical reason behind Simplenote notes losing line breaks when pasted into the Gmail app on iPhone, here's what we can infer based on the information available:

Possible Reasons:

Formatting Differences: Simplenote and the Gmail app might use different formatting methods for line breaks. When pasting from Simplenote, the Gmail app might not recognize or interpret the line break characters correctly.
Data Conversion: During the copy-paste process between apps, there might be a conversion issue where the line break data gets lost or misinterpreted.
Gmail App Limitations: The Gmail app for iPhone might have limitations in how it handles pasted content, specifically regarding line breaks from external sources like Simplenote.
What Simplenote Might Be Investigating:

Compatibility with Gmail App: They might be investigating compatibility issues between Simplenote's formatting and the Gmail app's handling of pasted content.
Data Conversion Methods: They might be exploring ways to improve how Simplenote prepares data for pasting into other apps, ensuring line breaks are preserved.
Communication with Gmail Developers: In some cases, app developers might work together to improve how their apps interact when copying and pasting content.
Here's what you can do:

Use Workarounds: As mentioned previously, consider using temporary workarounds like pasting into Apple Notes or Mail first, then copying and pasting from there into Gmail.
Stay Updated: Keep an eye on Simplenote updates. They might release a fix in a future update that addresses this issue.
By combining these steps and the information you receive from Simplenote, you'll hopefully have a clearer picture of the issue and potential solutions in the future.
