It took me for ever to get the archipel-agent/client/ejabberd all "working" (atleast they report no errors) and after all that I couldn't add the server in the GUI. I used the + >> Add Contact and tried all sorts of variations and just nothing, no errors.

Any ideas what I can do?

Mt KVM host is Fedora 27 and EJabberD host is Ubuntu 16.

your XMPP server should be ready!

root@archipel:~# ejabberdctl status
The node '[email protected]' is started with status: started
ejabberd 17.09 is running in that node

I'm happy to provide any more information, I'm about to give up, but I got so far after so much debugging its a shame to not get to use the product.

PS: If I get it running I'll be doing a write-up on the issues I had.

It same Archipel doesn't work with the latest version of ejabberd. I had to go back to ejabberd version 16.09 to get it running.
