While using the settings page of the Checker Plus for Gmail™ extension (accessed via chrome-extension:/), I noticed two usability issues related to the menu bar and search bar placement:
Menu Bar Scroll Behavior: When scrolling through the page using my laptop's touchpad, the menu bar at the top (which includes the options on the right) does not become visible unless I manually click a button to expand it. This reduces the accessibility and fluidity of navigation, as users may expect the menu options to be accessible upon scrolling.
Search Bar, Version, and Help Icon Placement: The placement of the search bar, version number, and help icon feels somewhat cluttered. These elements could be better arranged to improve the overall user experience. For example:
The search bar could be more prominent.
The version number and help icon might benefit from being aligned in a more intuitive position, perhaps grouped together in the top-right corner.
Suggested Improvements:
Menu Bar: Automatically display the menu options when scrolling to the top of the page, without requiring an additional click.
Search Bar and Icons: Reorganize the layout for better accessibility and visual appeal.
