Alternative to #267, what if there was a way for the Timeline to just constantly update? For instance, if you pan all the way to the right, it gets set to auto-update and populate events as they come in. If you pan at all left it still appends new events, but doesn't make the window automatically pan anymore. Perhaps an arrow on the right could appear allowing someone to catch back up without having to pan.
I had a console that did this and I found it to be quite useful.

I tried this out autoscrolling with svg's here https://github.com/CM-Tech/timeviewer and the cpu/battery cost was higher than I would've liked... I'm not sure if that is fixable with 60fps scrolling animation. Maybe automatic paging on 30 min intervals would work better (and encourage the pomodoro technique for focusing)
