Traefik released some time ago (more than a year) a 2.* version that comes with a slightly different API and some cool new features.

jupyterhub-traefik-proxy is not compatible with this new version because of some breaking API changes that came with v2. Though the first API version is still supported, there are user requests to support the v2 in jupyterhub-trefik-proxy and also a great PR opened that addresses this ❤️

jupyterhub-trefik-proxy should offer support for both Traefik versions and we should definitely experiment with using the new version in TLJH.
